Pamoja and the magic drum

A musical journey in an interactive concert and story where the theme is collaboration. The music consists of expressive dance rhythms and songs from different cultures in Kenya. During the performance, music is mixed with storytelling and theater: The boy Pamoja hopes to impress his friends by collecting honey from the big beehive in the forest. But things go wrong and now he will need the help of his friends to fix everything. The children are invited to join in as part of the interactive performance. They get to sing along to songs from Kenya, clap, and play rhythms while getting the feeling of being part of a big and exciting story throughout the concert.

About the Artists

Reagan Nyachieng'a is a talented and charismatic musician from Kenya. He is known as Reagan Afro-percussion for his versatility, style, and passion for his work in arts and music. In 2005, Reagan founded M-Tafsiri Africa, an organization dedicated to providing music education, leadership skills, and social-emotional therapy to vulnerable children and youth in Kenya. Through his organization, he has made a significant impact on the lives of former street children in Nairobi, helping them overcome drug addiction and trauma through group drum lessons and music therapy. Reagan's musical talents have taken him on tours across various countries, including Italy, Denmark, Norway, Lithuania, Tunisia, and East Africa, where he has performed in music and theater shows.

He has also conducted workshops and given concerts at numerous schools and preschools in Kenya, Denmark, and Sweden. Reagan's use of traditional Kenyan percussion music not only inspires children but also encourages them to express themselves positively, learn about different cultures, and collaborate through the power of music. With his captivating gestures and natural authority, Reagan creates a sense of fascination wherever he goes.

Amalie Malmgren Asmild is a Danish folk musician and storyteller who has a deep passion for her craft. Growing up in a family of musicians and storytellers, she was introduced to the world of music and storytelling at a young age. She made her debut as Denmark's youngest storyteller when she was just 11 years old at the Moesgård Storytelling Festival. Amalie's performances are a beautiful fusion of music and narration, captivating both children and adults alike. She has had the opportunity to collaborate with talented artists from different cultures, such as the Kenyan percussionist Reagan. Together, they form the KedeDuol band and have done tours in Denmark, Kenya, and Uganda, sharing their music with schools, organizations, and social projects. Amalie's unique talent lies in her ability to use the violin in a new and exciting way, adding both Scandinavian and African touch to her concerts in KedeDuol band that truly mesmerizes children.
